Paddling across the river to my perch atop the red-rock cliffs of Moab, UT to do a shoot for Moab Action Shots.
Vanessa discovered her love of photography at the age of 11 when she got her first camera, a 110 film point and shoot. She drove her parents to the poor house with film processing bills until she began college, studying fine art and journalistic photography at Memphis State, Memphis College of Art and finally at Western Kentucky University. She followed her heart doing freelance photography and working in pro photo processing for many years before deciding to try and make a career in the cycling and outdoors industry.
She spent several years working in bike shops and mountain bike racing before moving to Moab, UT to follow her dream of becoming a mountain bike tour guide. After guiding for Rim Tours and being a photographer for Moab Action Shots, she found herself in western North Carolina in 2005 working at Wheels Through Time, a vintage Harley and Indian motorcycle museum, as the on-site journalist, photographer and webmaster. This was the beginning of her web addiction (not to mention motorcycle addiction - the proud owner of two vintage and one more "practical" bike).
Vanessa moved to Austin, Texas in April of 2006 and soon after became president of the Austin Flyers Cycling Club thus continuing to feed all her two-wheeled addictions . Her dog Elvis is also a cycling fan and has his own web page documenting his brushes with greatness in the cycling world.
